Have questions? we're here to help.
SportsKey offers two membership categories: Sportskey (free) and Sportskey CLUB (paid).
As a Sportskey member, you'll be able to immediately login to your dashboard and view performance data of athletes from your child's age group, including the top ranked athletes of their age (anonymised). This may help you understand how your child's own performance compares to their peers (eg compare their sprint time against our database), but please note that our tests are standardised and use specialised equipment, so this will provide a rough guide only.
As a Sportskey CLUB member, you'll gain full access to our limited-capacity athletic testing events as well as your personal online dashboard. This means that your dashboard will combine your child's testing results with our broader database, providing you with key insights as to how they compare to other young athletes across many different aspects. In addition, you will have the opportunity to opt-in to talent identification opportunities with our network of sporting bodies, schools and universities.
Both Sportskey Memberships and CLUB Memberships do not expire, providing ongoing access to relevant age group data and insights on dashboards. However, only CLUB Members' personal scores and performance ratings will update as they build their longitudinal profile.
SportsKey CLUB members enjoy unlimited event attendance, although there are extra fees for additional testing events. Each event updates your dashboard profile to provide the latest insights with respect to comparisons with your child's peers, and insights about their own individual progression, strengths and focus areas. Our goal is to create enjoyable, engaging and positive testing events, allowing athletes to showcase improvement across the testing battery.
Each event caters to 60 athletes, ensuring sufficient time to perform each testing station to the best of each child's ability and enjoy our unique range of team-based and game-based activities.
The formal testing and game activities are designed to run for three hours. If the event runs over time due to unforeseen circumstances, parents can choose to continue or finish at the scheduled completion time. A Sportskey staff member will remain until the last athlete is picked up.
Registrations open 45 minutes before each event. Numbered bibs are issued and recorded. Athletes perform warm-up exercises to prepare for testing. The testing will immediately commence on the event time outlined.
If your child is unable to attend an event due to illness, injury, or other reasons, they can reschedule for a future event. Notify SportsKey before the start time to arrange. Please email info@sportskey.com.au at least 24 hours in advance, allowing another athlete on the waiting list to participate.
Athletes must wear black shorts or tights and a black t-shirt. As testing is mostly automated, cameras capture better vision when athletes wear black and maintain consistency in attire.
Junior and Youth events cater to specific age groups. Junior groups are for athletes aged U9 to U12, while Youth age groups are for athletes aged U13 or older.
Parents, guardians, family and friends are welcome as guests. A designated viewing area will be provided. Guests cannot directly interact with athletes during the event. Only Sportskey staff and athletes can access testing and game stations.
The SportsKey member dashboard shows the top-rated performances of athletes in your child's group (anonymised). It also provides testing averages and general advice based on their age.
The Sportskey CLUB member dashboard provides access to all features for parents and athletes. This includes the athlete's raw testing scores, age cohort averages and top-rated performances from their cohort (anonymised). CLUB members can compare their child's data based on both relative age and standard age cohort. They can also review results from older age groups to understand future benchmarks. Performance Ratings and the Sportskey score are regularly updated to reflect evolving insights.
Athlete dashboards are typically updated within 72 hours of each event, but often sooner. Future Performance and Sportskey scores will be updated several times per year, reflecting the updated data set for their age cohort. Parents will receive a text notification for each data update.
The SportsKey score is a comprehensive assessment of an athlete's overall performance, combining results from all tests. An athlete with similar individual performance ratings to another athlete may still have higher SportsKey scores, reflecting consistent rankings across all tests. The score may change over time when a child attends a new testing session or when our database is updated with the latest results, providing the most current insights about your child's performance.
Performance Ratings reflect the athlete's performance in each test. Athletes are allocated a Performance Rating from 1 to 10 based on their performance data range: 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71-80, 81-90, and 91-100. If an athlete does not complete a particular test, they will receive a zero Performance Rating.
The dashboard offers two options for parents to evaluate their child's data: Chronological Age Comparison and Relative Age Comparison. The former compares their performance to others in the same year group (i.e. athletes born between January 1st and December 31st of the same year). We provide this as it is the comparison commonly used for team placement and athlete selection, however we recognise that it carries the disadvantage whereby some young athletes are nearly 12 months older than their peers and thereby have had more time to grow and develop. Therefore, we also provide the Relative Age Comparison. The Relative Age Comparison considers the child's relative age by comparing their performance to athletes born six months before or after them at the time of testing. This provides better context and accounts for advantages or disadvantages based on birth timing.
The dashboards will be updated several times per year, providing the latest insights for your child's age group. Athletes attending their first event or updating their performance assessments will have their data updated on the dashboard within 72 hours.
Sportskey's philosophy emphasises that each child should prioritize the development of their athletic strengths. The dashboard identifies the two areas where the athlete achieved their best ratings, as well as the two areas with their lowest ratings. We provide ways to continue developing these skills in an informal training setting, based on the identified strengths and focus areas for each child.
Sportskey believes that most sports require a range of athletic types, especially team-based sports. As young athletes grow and physically mature, their proficiency in a given sport also improves. To determine which sports a child is suited for during their development, we match young athletes with the key preferences that sporting organisation's look for at different stages of their talent identification process.
Schools, universities and industries are seeking active, self-motivated individuals with diverse abilities and strengths. Parents and young athletes can indicate their areas of interest and preferences, enabling institutions and industries to provide specific information if they choose to opt-in to this feature. This allows young athletes to explore available opportunities if they are interested in pursuing or preparing for a particular vocational path.
